This aimag situates on the North in the Khangai mountain forest steppe zone. Bulgan aimag borders on the North with the Russian Federation. Sandy soil with semi-desert features is an the South side of the aimag. High mountains: Bulgan Khan Uul, Buregkhangai, Dulaankhan with mixed forest tower in haze. There are Selenga, Orkhon, Tuul, Khanui rivers. They are full of clear waters. confereous trees, fruits and medical herbs such as berry, goosberry, hippobophae, plantago, great burhet, peone, a species of artemesia and thyme grow in the fertile soil. Mixed forest is about 30 per cent of the aimag territory. Elks, bears, deer, white antilopes, boars, musk deer, lynxes, squirrels, marmots inhabited there. Bulgan aimag is rich in beautiful places, such as Eg-Selenge, Eg-Tarvagatai meadow, Uran-Togoo, Khugnukhan. There are Khulji, Uurt and other springs. There are remnants of old stone ages, ruins and sites of Baibalyk of the ancient city of Uighur State and ruins of the residence of prince Tsogt. Bulgan is famous by its historic places. The main sector of economy is agriculture. Total livestock is 1,213 thousand heads. The local industry produces a range of products including foodstuffs, gold, consumer and export goods. Average annual industrial output reaches 1.9 bln tugriks. Over 70 per cent of aimag's budget are rendered from local revenues.
