The Dornogobi aimag situates on East-South of the country and borders on the South with the People's Republic of China. This wide area is a semi-desert zone, with a hard and sandy soil. There are medical herbs such as liquorice, cuscuta australis, and annual, perennial species such as wild leek, saksaul, elm, mongol onion and saltwort. Wild animals are wild horse, wild sheep, ibex, black tailed antilope, white antilope and lynx. Birds are condor, eagle and otis tarda. They live on the hill of Otsol, Sansara, Ikhe and Baga Dulaan, Argalant, Khorgo, Budryn Uul, on the steppe of the Tuulait and Tariachin, on the hollows of Gurban Bayan, Unegt, Tughum, on the wide semi-desert of Bulan saaral, Gurvan Khashaat, Khonich, Burdene Uul, Dalai Bumbat. Total livestock is 1,018 thousand in 2005. The industrial base consists of 7 big and 50 small and medium factories, working in differenr areas such as mining, food processing and construction. Over 500 km long railway crosses through 6 somons. Infrastructure consists of railway, telecommunications and roads.
