Gobi-Sumber aimag is situated in the Southeast part of the central region of Mongolia. About 80 per cent of the aimag¡¯s land are suitable for extensive animal husbandry. The territory of the aimag belongs to the steppe zone and its altitude is 1000-1200 meters above sea level. Its climate is extreme-continental. There is relatively more rainfall in Gobi-Sumber than in the rest of the Gobi (the average rainfall is 200-250 mm). The maximum temperature in summer is +37 degrees /Celsius/ and the minimum temperature in winter is -37 degrees /Celsius/. Gobi-Sumber aimag is rich in natural resources. Deposits of brown coal, oil, tin, clay for brick and mineral paint have been discovered. The number of livestock is 129.4 thousand heads in the beginning of 2005.
