Khentii aimag is a homeland of the Great Emperor Chinggis Khaan. Chinggis Khaan was born in Burkhan Khaldun mountain near Three River basis of Khentii aimag. The Khentii aimag situates in the hillous area an the east side. This aimag borders on the north with the Russian Federation. The climate, soil and nature are changed from the west to the east, wooded steppe and steppe. The annual average precipitation is about 200-300 mm. The peak of the Khentii mountain is Asralt Khairkhan and its height is 2799 meters above sea level. There are over 70 clear water rivers, such as Onon, Kherulen, Balzh, Khurkh, Ulz, Tsenkher. There many hot and cold springs, such as Gurvun nuur, Onon, Avarga toson, Tars. This aimag is rich in fruits, such as wild cherry, bilberry, currant and medical herbs, such as thermopsis, valerian, pseudostellavia, and natural condiments such as altaicuma, allium, adorum, allium senenceves, lilium pumilu. This aimag surveys smoky quartz, asbestos, coal, iron ore, tungsten, tin, and some of them are used for industrial purposes. Livestock of the aimag counts 1.505 thousand heads. Khentii aimag is rich in natural resources. There are several exploited areas such as 3 deposits of 489.2 mln tons of coal each, 18 deposits of 21.3 mln tons of flour-spar, 2 deposits of gold 17 deposits of tin, tungsten.
