This aimag is located in the central part of the country. The Khangai mountain dominates in the North-West. The Altai mountain towers in the south-west. The steppe stretched over the middle of the territory. The Gobi desert extends over the South. The annual average temperature is about 1 Degree Celsius, and the average precipitation is about 135 mm. The south part of the area is a semi-desert grey and a steppe pale soil, the north part of the area is a mountaineous-brown and a black soil. The 2 per cent of the area is of poplar, birch, pine, larch forests. The semi-desert is salty and saline. There are oasises and shrubs, cargana, haloxyan, and almond grow there. There are with wild sheep, ibexex, wild horse, wild camel, gazelle, fox, corsas, antilope, snow-leopard, lynx, and birds such as swan, pelican, snow-cock, black grouse, wood grouse. There are majestic, beautiful mountains like Khyatruun, and fair steppes such-like Noyokhon Dalai, Arvai, Khar nuden, clear-water rivers run such as Ongi, Taath, Orkhon lakes such as Khuis, Tsagaan, Sangiin dalai. The 24 meters high waterfall of the Orkhon river is called as Red Confluence. This is the attraction of tourists. This aimag have an amazing places such as beautiful Khuis eight lakes, Tamchi Yol khad, Yamaatiin Tsant, Khorgoi Khurem with interesting geological formation. Among of big and small springs the most famous is Khujirt, where 10.000 people can have sanatoriumcare per year. The Uvurkhangai aimag has lot of the evidences of the ancient human life from ancient time. Among them there are the most rare and important cultural monuments. One of them is the Maanit monument with Turk inscription in Uyanga somon. This monument was erected in the 731 of our era. And there are also the remnant Kharkhot of Uighur capital city, the ruins of Khar Khorum capital city of Mongolian Empires, and Erdene Zuu, the 16th century Buddhist temple. Animal husbandry is the key economic sector. Total livestock is 2.155 thousand heads, this province is in the 1st place by sheepstock (971.5 thous.). The coal mining, building material and wood processing plants are major industrial activities.
